What different types of drive systems are available for our small goods lifts?

Pulley drive

  • Features: The pulley drive is the traditional and most commonly used solution in our small goods lifts.

  • Applications & Benefits:

    • Tried and tested & efficient: Power is transmitted via ropes and a drive sheave, usually combined with a balancing counterweight.

    • Smooth running: Ensures quiet, smooth operation – ideal for continuous daily use in the catering, hospitality and commercial sectors.

    • Cost-effective: Our standard solution for most conventional shaft and installation configurations.

Chain drive

  • Characteristics: The chain drive is particularly useful when specific structural challenges need to be overcome.
  • Applications & Advantages:
    • No counterweight required: Ideally suited for designs with a safety catch – particularly where there are accessible spaces beneath the shaft. This eliminates the need to fit an additional safety catch to a counterweight.
    • Flexible installation: Also ideal for systems with a bottom-mounted drive. Compact: Enables optimum use of space in shafts with restricted cross-sections.

Drum drive (cable drum)

  • Characteristics: In a drum drive, the suspension cable is wound in an orderly manner onto a rotating cable drum.

  • Applications & Benefits:

    • Special configuration: We mainly use this for models with a side-mounted drive.

    • Space-saving shaft head: As the drive can be positioned at the side, the height of the shaft head can be significantly reduced if required.

    • Direct pull: Provides precise cable guidance for complex shaft geometries.
